What should we wear?

Wear something that makes you feel comfortable and great. Layers are a great way to add some different patterns and colors into the mix, while not making things too busy. Be sure not to wear too loud or busy of a print or else it could be distracting in your pictures. Accessories are also a great way to add a pop of color and depth to your images. For engagement sessions I recommend having one casual outfit and one dressier outfit to give you variety in your pictures. Please see this post on more suggestions for what to wear.

For family sessions, I recommend wearing different colors and patterns that coordinate with one another but do not match perfectly. Stay away from wearing all the same color as this is a great opportunity for each family member to be his or her self and show his or her own style. With babies and young children, keep their comfort in mind! Keep their outfits light and comfortable. Also make sure to try their outfits on before the session to be sure things fit correctly. Please visit my Pinterest board for family session outfit ideas.

Pinterest is also a great tool to utilize. Please visit my Pinterest board for engagement session outfit ideas.

Do you pick the location or should I?

After your initial inquiry, we will work together to find a location that works well with what you are envisioning for the session. Picking a meaningful spot specific to you as a couple or family is a great way to make your session special but I can also work with you if you don't have a spot in mind.

When's the best time to take pictures?

It depends on the location and the time of year, but typically the hour before sunset is the best time to get beautiful natural light (that's why photographers call it the "golden hour"!). In the winter, the best time is usually from about 4:30-5:30pm and in the summer from about 7-8pm. Again, that can vary somewhat depending on the month so I'll work with you to come up with the best time for your shoot. Also, if it's an overcast day you can take pictures pretty much any time!

What do we do if the weather does not cooperate?

Because I'm a big believer in natural light, I do not have a studio and do all sessions on location. If rain or bad weather is an issue, we will simply re-schedule a time as soon as possible that works for both of our schedules.

How long will it take to receive my pictures?

For portrait sessions it will take 1-2 weeks to receive your pictures. For weddings it will take 6-8 weeks.

How many pictures do we get for wedding photography?

The number of pictures delivered varies from wedding to wedding. This number may depend on factors such as number of guests, hours of coverage, and how the events unfold on your wedding day. My average minimum for an 8 hour day is about 500 images.

Do we get the high resolution files?

Yes! You get all of the high resolution files through an online gallery called Pixiset. For wedding days, I also deliver your pictures on a beautiful wooden USB drive (see this post for more information on my wedding packages).

What type of equipment do you use?

I shoot with the highest quality professional gear. I use a Canon 5D Mark III and a variety of Canon L series and Sigma Art lenses: 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, 70-200mm. I also use Canon 600EX-RT flashes and I have backup cameras and lenses.

Do you have liability insurance?

Absolutely!
